Why the Man Of Steel is relevant for every Generation and in the traditional way

Superman, America's greatest hero and icon, a symbol of hope for everyone on this planet, But is he still relevant in this generation where morality is questionable? In a time where the line between good and bad is getting murkier day by day?

I have been hearing this quote from Superman detractors "Superman is boring and needs to be edgier and darker and is too boring as an American scout."

I do not agree with this.

To give you more perspective on where I am coming from I should tell you my story as a superman fan. The first version of superman I ever saw was Henry Cavill's Superman in Man of Steel. I loved this version of superman and adored this movie. I know that is not the most popular opinion out there. But for me that movie is incredible and I will defend this movie to death. I have seen Superman returns and I also loved Brandon Routh's Superman in superman returns even though I feel the movie was meh. I have never seen the Christopher Reeve superman movies even though I would love to see those movies. I have read Death of superman ,All star Superman, Superman red son and many other comics digitally since it is hard to find a paperback comic in India .So anyways

I want to shed new light on why Man of Steel works as a Boy scout and tell you some of his greatest stories are through him being the way he is.

• The first point i have heard is that Superman is boring as a boy scout and he needs to be evil and change him for the 21'st century and this stems from the fact that in the first movie superman says the quote "I am here to fight for truth, for justice the American way." What those people fail to understand is that this is a powerful writing tool for the character which when bought into could give some great stories.

• The example I could give is the comic "What is funny in the truth,justice and the American way" in which Superman has to come to terms with his ideal morality of not killing people which comes to conflict with the 4 superpowered human beings called elites who kill peope for their crimes. His optimism is questioned and his ideals are put to test and eventually he proved his ideals and optimism is relevant and it is the better choice for the world. These stories immortalize Superman in pop culture.

• In the comic All Star Superman in an elseworlds story Superman faces adversity, challenges faced by his health as he struggles with cancer due to the overwhelming solar radiation orchestrated by lex luthor and he is forced to put his mental and physical strength to test so that he could save the world from the solar radiation and also shows how he has compassion for his enemies and also manages to redeem lex luthor.

• I hope that my article could give the detractors of Superman new light to view him and not say him that he is all to powerful and that he is boring and he should be presented in a new way for today's audience.
