TNG All Good Things is Trek Perfection

ree

TNG's All Good Things is Trek perfection. It embodies the best aspects of the Trek franchise as well as TNG's strengths. It's a fitting finale to our beloved TNG crew and large in scope and style. It combines great interpersonal character drama with whacky science fiction with smart usage of the time travel plot device. It employs a great usage of fanservice without coming across as gimmicky with it being a love letter to long-time Trek fans.

The acting performances fire on all cylinders with Patrick Stewart giving his best Picard performance and John De Lancie's Q stealing every scene with him. Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, and Levar Burton are all at their A game and Gates Mc Fadden as an older Beverly Crusher is a big highlight.

The direction by Cliff Bole employs smash cuts for time travel trips, lighting with great cinematography movement and its production design clearly describes the characters and the periods, and their arcs. It employs sharp editing and great usage of shaky cam to cover the disorientation of the multiple periods.

The writing is strong as it's fused with organic relationships, witty dialogue with technobabble, and cathartic resolution for the overlying arc of the show and its iconic characters. It's a perfect series finale which encompasses everything and giving this show a meaningful end and contributing to its legacy decades from now.
