Baby Driver is creatively ambitious and inherently playful in its approach, tone, and storytelling. Its integration of music elements into key aspects of character motivation is novel and fresh. There are compelling high stakes heists ,overcranked action fantasies with confident and ambitious direction by Edgar Wright.

Its musical storytelling done through our protagonist Angel is informed, detailed and exposition-less while being fun and witty. Some find caricatures,one-dimensional romance from the types of genres this film pulls form but its witty and ambitious nature putting a spin on this genre offsets that.

Technically Baby Driver is bombastic,genre bending and potent. The pulpy and colorful imagery uses lighting,composition,framing,angles and precision. Its music is diversified with punk rock pieces,hard rock, and moody and colorful pieces. Its production design creates flashy and bigger set pieces with colorful set design informing the tone and style for this film.

Its cast is well established along with fresh faces rounding it up. The crisp and fast editing is wonderful and gives a sense of urgency while its sync up to music sequences are novel and ambitious.It utilizes inserts,zoom outs, quick pacing, matchcuts, crosscuts and dream sequences encompassing its themes. Overall Baby Driver is a lot of style which makes up for its lack of substance with its thin plotting
